Why take this test?

A highly accurate antibody test

The Siemens Atellica IM COV2T test that Melio offers, was shown to be the most accurate, and the only one to meet MHRA's Target Product Profile (TPP), in a head-to-head comparison published by Public Health England in July 2020.

Do I need to fast?

Fasting is not necessary for this test. Take the test at least 14 days after symptom onset or vaccination. If current COVID infection is suspected, you should do a PCR swab test.

No hidden costs

Everything from the in-clinic blood draw and tracked shipment of samples to the lab, through to delivery of the results and medical report is included in the price.

Professional testing

This test is performed as an in-clinic blood draw by a trained health professional and the samples are analysed by UKAS accredited labs.

Markers included in the analysis

The Siemens Healthineers’ SARS-CoV-2 Total antibody assay detects antibodies against the receptor-binding domain (RBD) of the S1 spike protein, also known as neutralising antibodies. The spike protein and particularly the RBD are the most common targets of vaccine designs. Please note that it is not yet known if, or to which degree, COVID-19 antibodies can offer protection against future infection, or for how long any potential immunity will last. You should also know that some people may have recovered from a COVID-19 infection without having detectable levels of antibodies in their blood. With this test package you'll also find out if your Vitamin-D levels are low. This is a common problem in the UK, but most people don't know if they are in the risk zone. A lack of vitamin D has been associated with chronic conditions such as obesity, type 2 diabetes, chronic pain, and osteoporosis. Vitamin D also plays a role in the immune system. Antibody tests should be done at least three weeks after the onset of disease for the most accurate results. This test should only be taken on weekdays (Monday - Friday).
