Markers included in the analysis
The thyroid affects practically all cells in the body, and has a key role in metabolism, growth, body temperature, sleep and fertility. When the thyroid is not functioning correctly, symptoms can be vague and a blood test can be an easy way of identifying a problem. This test includes results for 3 thyroid hormones, and a personal medical report. Click on the 'Thyroid' tab for a breakdown of the markers included. You can also click on each marker to learn more. Please note that this test should only be taken on weekdays (Monday - Friday).
The thyroid is a gland located in the neck that produces hormones regulating our metabolism (how we use and store energy), as well as other bodily functions. Symptoms of weight gain, fatigue, depression and feeling cold, can all be due to an underactive thyroid - the most common thyroid disorder. A thyroid profile is used to evaluate thyroid function to diagnose and control hypothyroidism and hyperthyroidism. This test measures your levels of the three thyroid hormones Triiodothyronine (T3), Thyroxine (T4) and Thyroid Stimulating Hormone (TSH).
